Stellar Community Manager

 

Overview of Responsibilities

We are seeking a dedicated Community Manager to join SS-F, focusing on fostering and managing our vibrant community of scientists. This role includes developing and implementing strategies to nurture a positive, inclusive community, building trust with members through regular, open communication, and gathering feedback to enhance organizational services.The position also involves planning and managing a range of networking events for scientists, including regular and new events like the SS-F GALA, community retreats, Inventor Spotlight, and Editor Connect, as well as creative and interdisciplinary events. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, a passion for community-building, and a keen interest in creating meaningful interactions across scientific fields.

 

Job Description Details

■ Community Management for Scientists

 □Develop and implement strategies to grow and nurture the community.
 □Build trust through regular communication with community members.
 □Collect feedback from community members regarding their needs and challenges, aiming to improve organizational operations and services.
 □Foster a positive and inclusive environment for community interactions.

■ Planning and Managing Networking Events for Scientists Hosted by SS-F
 □Past events with plans for regular future occurrences include:
  ・GALA: A networking event for Scientists and industry professionals (approximately 50-60 participants).
  ・Retreat: An overnight event aimed at promoting mutual understanding and communication among scientists within the community (approximately 30 participants).
  ・Inventor Spotlight: An event aiming to collaborate scientists from different fields (lecture and panel sessions).
  ・Editor Connect: An event inviting editors from international scientific journals for seminars and one-on-one sessions with scientists.
  ・Additionally, plan and manage new events that are meaningful or stimulating for scientists:
  ・Events that foster collaboration and interaction among scientists across different fields and borders.
  ・Events that provide creative stimulation from artists and cultural figures.

 

Required Skills and Experience

■ Experience in the following areas within a corporate setting:
 □Experience in planning event or seminar content (experience in building innovation communities or supporting startups at accelerators or VC firms is a plus).
 □Experience in event or seminar management (including online events).
 □Experience in building new communities.

 

Preferred Skills and Experience (not mandatory but a plus)

■ Basic knowledge in the sciences (life sciences, material sciences, computer science) or practical experience in the science-related industry.
■ Media connections within the science field.
■ Business-level English proficiency.
■ Conversational Japanese proficiency (equivalent to JLPT N3 level).

Other Information

■ Employment Type: Full-time employee or contractor.
■ Working Hours: Flexible working hours (core time 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM) with 8 hours of actual work.
■ Holidays: Saturdays, Sundays, national holidays, year-end and New Year holidays (12/29 to 1/3), and annual paid leave (20 days from the second year).
■ Work Location: Fully remote (in-person attendance based on event location).
■ Compensation: Negotiable based on experience.
■ Benefits: Social insurance, maternity and childcare leave, reduced working hours for caregiving.
